Mark Spigt (1-sep-1973) received his PhD in 2004 after studying the effects drinking water on urinary tract symptoms in elderly men. Currently, he has academic positions at Maastricht University (Netherlands), Mekelle University (Ethiopia) and in Tromsø.
Mark Spigt runs an all-round primary care/public health research program. The research line in Norway is mainly focused on COPD, with a large multicountry focusgroup study and a Norwegian. The researchers from Ethiopia develop and evaluate pragmatic innovations on tuberculosis, skilled birth attendance, intestinal parasitosis and malnutrition in little children. He is linked to research schools both in Maastricht and Norway (NAFALM).
